How to Apply the 8 m² Microcement Kit for Terrazzo or Marble Floors: Step by Step
Your terrazzo or marble floor has been asking for a second chance for a while… and this ready-to-use microcement kit is exactly the “yes, let’s do it” it needed. With just a few thin, simple, 100% DIY-friendly layers, you’ll turn a floor full of joints into a seamless, modern surface that’s ready to show off. Here’s your roadmap:
1. Deep clean and inspect without fear
Remove dust, grease and everyday dirt. Check that no tiles are loose, cracked or uneven.
If they are, fix them now: microcement is noble, but it copies whatever is underneath. A great finish starts with a great base.
2. Joints out, new floor on the way
Use Smart Jointer to fill every joint until the whole surface is level. This step is pure magic: the joints disappear and the floor already starts to look continuous.
- Let it dry for 24 hours.
- Sand with grit 40.
- Remove all dust.
A solid, well-prepared base saves you headaches later.
3. Primer that grips exactly as it should
Terrazzo, marble or tiles — it doesn’t matter: Smart Primer PLUS makes everything bond perfectly.
Apply it evenly with a roller and let it sit for 30 minutes. It’s the handshake between your old floor and your new one.
4. Build the base: the transformation begins
Time for Smart Base, the preparatory microcement that brings order to the surface.
- Apply two thin coats (less than 1 mm).
- Spread with Smart Roller, smooth with a trowel at 45°.
- Let each coat dry for 6 hours.
- Sand with grit 40.
Here the change becomes obvious: joints fade away, texture evens out, and the floor is ready to shine.
5. Smart Medio: the texture that makes the difference
Now comes the star of this kit: Smart Medio, the finishing microcement that brings body, durability and a refined, subtly anti-slip texture.
Apply it just like before:
- Two coats, each under 0.5 mm.
- Smart Roller + trowel.
- Sand with grit 80 between coats.
- 6 hours drying time between layers.
If it looked new before, now it looks like something straight out of a magazine.
6. Varnish & Booster: the final shield
Mix Smart Varnish + Smart Booster and protect your masterpiece. You’ll apply three coats, each with its own timing:
- 4 hours drying between coats.
- Light sanding with grit 400 after the first and second coat.
This sealing step is what turns a good finish into a durable, everyday-proof surface.
7. Curing: the part you don’t see, but you’ll definitely feel
Yes, you can walk on it gently after 48–72 hours, but full resistance is reached after 7 days. That’s when your microcement floor is at its best.
And that’s it. You + this microcement kit = a whole new space. No builders, no demolition, no noise… just style.
Once you see it finished, no one will believe there used to be terrazzo or marble underneath. Not even you.
See how it really works
