So it’s essential to first apply two coats of Smart Base to give the floor or stairs the necessary strength. No mixing or pigmenting needed, it’s truly ready to use! Open, apply, and enjoy the process.
Smart Medio’s versatility makes it easy to apply on many types of substrates, both absorbent and non-absorbent. A decorative, functional, and original solution to create continuous and durable coatings, with great resistance and no cracking (as long as the application process is followed).

Application
Application of Smart Medio: ready-to-use microcement for floors
Have you already applied Smart Base? Have you checked that the substrate is completely dry? Now it’s time for Smart Medio! This ready-to-use microcement has been developed as a finishing system for floors and stairs — the perfect way to complete your great DIY transformation. Let’s get started.
1. Reapply tape to firmly secure the floor area where you will continue applying our ready-to-use microcement.
2. Stir Smart Medio with a spatula, moisten the Smart Roller in the product, and spread it over the surface to be renewed (never exceeding 0.5 mm thickness). Apply first vertically, then horizontally.
3. Smooth with our polycarbonate trowel for a uniform, burr-free finish. Maintain a 45º angle and use broad, arching movements in all directions until the surface is fully covered and flawless.
4. Let dry for 6 hours, then sand with 80-grit sandpaper. Repeat to apply a second coat of Smart Medio finishing microcement for floors and stairs. Follow the same drying time and sand again. Apply 2 coats of Smart Medio in total.
5. After 24 hours, protect the microcement with Smart Varnish. Add Smart Booster first, let the mixture rest for 5 to 10 minutes, and apply 3 coats with a 4-hour interval between each. Sand the first and second coats with 400-grit sandpaper.
*Important: The mentioned sandpapers are for manual sanding only. We only recommend using Smartcret’s anti-burn sandpaper; using others could affect the expected finish. Also, Smart Varnish reaches its maximum resistance after seven days, so until then, avoid spills, excessive foot traffic, and cleaning.
