Smart Base is a ready-to-use microcement for preparation. The first step in the Smart System by Smartcret Do It Yourself that allows easy and fast application on the substrate of your choice, whether it's a floor or walls.
With Smart Base, you will prepare the substrate, giving it consistency and robustness, and then give it the final touch with Smart Liso. Description of Smart Base: Preparatory ready-to-use microcement
The ready-to-use microcement for preparation and already pigmented Smart Base is a decorative material designed to innovate and remodel spaces in a unique way with a maximum grain size of 0.3 mm. Applying this microcement to existing materials allows for a renovation without the need for construction work, quickly and efficiently. Its ready-to-use composition allows for application without prior mixing with other products—just open, shake, and apply.
Furthermore, thanks to the excellent adherence of the ready-to-use microcement for preparation Smart Base, it can be applied to a wide range of absorbent and non-absorbent substrates such as cement mortar, self-leveling compound, terrazzo, marble, tiles, plasterboard, or plaster, both on vertical and horizontal surfaces in interior spaces.
Smart Base also boasts good resistance to abrasion, traffic, water, and scratching. These features make it an excellent choice when seeking a coating that is not only decorative but also functional.
For the cleaning and maintenance of the ready-to-use microcement for preparation and already pigmented Smart Base, only water and neutral soap are needed. Alternatively, you can choose to use Smart Cleaner for a deeper clean and Smart Wax maintenance wax to enhance the microcement, reinforcing its hardness and natural shine.

Application
Application of Smart Base: Preparatory ready-to-use microcement
Smart Base is the first type of ready-to-use microcement from Smartcret that needs to be applied. Before proceeding with this step, the substrate must be properly prepared to favor its stability and ensure the total adhesion of the system.
- Dust, grease, soaps, etc., must be cleaned, and paint in poor condition should be stripped and sanded. If the surface has defects such as cracks or chipping, they must be repaired. It is also crucial to ensure that the support is level, consolidated, and free of dampness.
- In the case of having joints, apply Smart Jointer to fill them.
- Prime the substrate with our Smart Primer ABS or Smart Primer GRIP to guarantee adhesion with our ready-to-use microcement.
- Outline the surface with protective adhesive tape. Mix the ready-to-use microcement for preparation Smart Base, already pigmented in your chosen color, with a spatula.
- Dip the black roller in the Smart Base and spread the microcement thinly (less than 1mm) on the wall vertically, then horizontally. Smooth it out with the polycarbonate trowel using arcing motions in all directions. Repeat this process until the surface is completely covered and smooth. Allow 6 hours of drying time between layers and sand after each layer with a 40-grit sandpaper. Apply a total of 2 layers of Smart Base.
Afterward, it would be necessary to apply Smart Liso microcement and protect the new coating with Smart Varnish.
