• Give it time: let it cure for 7 days before you start using it. The varnish reaches maximum strength after the first week.

How to apply your ready-to-use 16 m² concrete shower microcement kit

A shower of up to 16 m² may look intimidating… but with Smartcret’s ready-to-use microcement kit you’ll handle it like a pro. The secret is simple: follow the method – clear steps, proper drying times and just a bit of patience. And the best part: no construction works, no noise, no drama.

Before you start:

• Check the surface: no negative damp. If left untreated, it will show through the finish.
• Fix damages: cracks or chips? Repair them before applying microcement.
• Check the slope: your shower tray needs at least a 10% incline towards the drain to avoid standing water.
• Deep clean: remove all soap residue, dust and grease.

Smartcret tips during application:

• Corners & edges: use a spatula – your finish will thank you.
• Walls only? Seal the joint with the shower tray using silicone to keep moisture out.
• Tray only? Make sure that slope to the drain is correct (≥ 10%).
• Tray + walls? Always start with the walls and protect the tray with tape and plastic.
• Sanding: always by hand. Power sanders put too much pressure and can burn the material.
• Trowel at 45°: any other angle = disaster.

Step by step:

1. Smart Primer ABS (Primer) – apply one even coat with a roller. Let dry for 30 minutes.
2. Smart Base (Preparation) – apply 2 thin coats (< 1 mm) with Smart Roller and smooth with the trowel at 45°. Let dry 6 hours between coats, then sand with grit 40.
3. Smart Liso (Finish) – apply 2 more thin coats (≤ 0.5 mm), same method. Let dry 6 hours between coats and sand with grit 220. This is where your shower starts to look like a luxury hotel.
4. Smart Varnish + Smart Booster (Protection) – apply 3 coats of varnish mixed with the additive. Allow 4 hours drying time between coats and sand the 1st and 2nd with grit 400. Let cure for 7 days before using your brand-new XXL microcement shower.
