Smartcover Floor paint for floors

Smartcover Floor is a water-based floor paint formulated with WEAH technology using one-component epoxy-acrylic copolymers. It is an aliphatic paint: it does not yellow, resists UV rays and performs equally well indoors and outdoors. It offers high abrasion resistance and good chemical resistance: designed to withstand vehicle wheels and the typical grease of a garage, so it is more than up to the job on almost any floor in the home. Includes an in-film anti-mould preservative. Available in 8 colours.

  • One-component and ready to use: no mixing, with the colour already prepared. Ideal for DIY projects.
  • No primer needed: applies directly onto a clean, degreased substrate.
  • Excellent adhesion on ceramic (tiles and stoneware), cement and concrete.
  • Uniform matt/satin finish with high hiding power.

How to apply Smartcover Floor

Substrate preparation

  • Ceramic (tiles and stoneware): clean and degrease thoroughly. No need to sand the glaze: adhesion is guaranteed. Keeping the tile texture looks great; if you prefer a completely smooth, even easier-to-clean surface, you can re-grout the tiles with Smart Jointer.
  • Cement and concrete: if the mortar is new, allow full curing (~1 month). Remove loose parts, repair cracks and clean off dust and oils. No primer.
  • Previously painted surfaces: check the existing paint is sound and well adhered; make good if necessary.
  • Unsuitable substrates: do not apply on vinyl or PVC. No restriction on wood.

Application

  1. Stir gently to homogenise: one-component, ready to use, with the colour already prepared.
  2. Tools: roller or brush. For spray, dilute 20–25% with water.
  3. Conditions: apply between 10–35 °C and RH < 70%. Outdoors, avoid rain and strong direct sun.
  4. Coats: 2 thin coats, with ≈30 min touch dry and 3–4 h between coats (summer ~3 h, winter ~4 h).
  5. Return to service: walk on carefully after 24 h; fully hardened at 72 h; do not wet with water for 7 days.
  6. Cleaning: wash tools with water immediately after use.

Frequently asked questions

Which floors can I paint with Smartcover Floor?

Ceramic (tiles and stoneware), cement and concrete in good condition. Do not apply on vinyl or PVC; there is no restriction on wood.

Does it need a primer?

No — no compatible substrate needs one: the adhesion is in the formula. The key is thorough cleaning and degreasing beforehand.

How many coats do I need?

Two coats — necessary and sufficient. Allow ~30 minutes touch dry and 3–4 hours between coats: ~3 h in summer, better 4 h in winter.

When can I walk on it, and when can it get wet?

You can walk on it carefully after 24 hours. At 72 hours it is fully hardened, but avoid wetting it with water for 7 days.

Can I spray it?

Yes. Dilute 20–25% with water and adjust nozzle and pressure for thin, even coats.

Is it suitable outdoors and over underfloor heating?

Yes to both. It is an aliphatic paint (non-yellowing, UV-resistant) and 100% compatible with underfloor heating.

How do I clean the painted floor?

With neutral cleaners, which are also better for your health. Avoid bleach, ammonia and metal scourers: no decorative coating tolerates them well.

How do I repair wear or a scratch?

Very simple and low-cost: light sanding with 180-200 grit and one coat of the same colour. To change colour, apply two coats.
