One kit to coat a piece of furniture you already own in microcement. This is not a finished piece of furniture or a worktop panel: it is the material you use to coat what is already in your home —a table, a shelving unit, a sideboard, a ledge— leaving it with a seamless, continuous finish in the colour you choose.

It works on MDF, plywood, chipboard, plasterboard, plaster or cement. These are porous surfaces, so the kit goes straight in with the primer for absorbent surfaces. What is out is anything that flexes under pressure: a thin shelf that sags in the middle will end up cracking the microcement, however well it has been applied.

Corners and edges are what need the most care. A sharp edge chips sooner than a flat surface, so it is worth rounding it off a little before you start. The instructions explain it step by step and no special tools are needed.

And the same limit as on any countertop: it handles daily use and water, but not a hot pan or pot set down directly on it. Use a trivet, as you would on any surface that is not stone.

Twenty colours, all with a matt finish, and the kit arrives complete: primer, microcement, varnish, application trowel and step-by-step instructions.

A professional applicator charges 90–120 €/m², and for a single piece of furniture most will not even come out. This kit is the material: you apply it yourself, with the instructions inside and the step-by-step video. The project takes three days and the varnish reaches full cure after seven.

Colour: swatches and NCS equivalences are indicative. The actual result may vary depending on your screen, the lighting of the space, the surface and the application.

Before you buy

Check if this kit is right for your surface

This solution is designed to renovate furniture made of wood, chipboard, MDF or plasterboard without replacing it. Check these four points before choosing size and colour.

Furniture made of wood, chipboard, MDF or plasterboard. This is not the right kit for walls or floors: choose the kit for the surface you want to renovate.

Everything you need to know before you start

What’s included and what do I need separately?

The kit includes all the Smartcret system products needed for your surface and your square metres: you will find them detailed one by one, with their quantities, in the ‘Description’ tab below. You will also need a sealer roller, a polycarbonate trowel and basic protection and application tools. The microcement comes ready to use, already pigmented; only the final coat of varnish is mixed with its booster.

How do I choose the coverage?

Measure the surface to be covered: for walls, width × height of each section; for floors, worktops or furniture, length × width of each face. Subtract only large openings, add up the total and add a 10% margin. Choose the kit whose m² is equal to or greater than the result; if in doubt between two, go for the larger one. You can also use the calculator in the selector.

How long does the project take?

The full project takes 3 days. The varnish reaches full cure from 7 days.

Can I return or exchange the kit?

Yes: you have 14 days from delivery for exchanges and returns. Return shipping is at the customer’s expense and your order number is enough for us. See the full conditions.

Is it right for my surface?

Each kit is formulated for a specific project and surface: you will find it in the kit name and in the line with ✓ above the coverage selector. If your surface is different (for example, plasterboard instead of tiles), use the assistant at the top and we will take you to the right kit. First repair any loose piece, active crack or damp problem.

Description

What it is

Microcement to coat a piece of furniture you already own, leaving it seamless and continuous in the colour you choose.

It goes on top of the existing surface in a thin layer, so there is no demolition and no rubble. You choose the surface you have and the kit adapts to it.

Twenty colours, all with a matt finish. The kit arrives complete and with step-by-step instructions.

Additional information

Additional information

  • What arrives. Primer, microcement, varnish, application trowel, sanding disc and step-by-step instructions.
  • Coverage. Each size in the dropdown covers the area stated in its name, counting both coats.
  • Storage. Keep unopened containers somewhere cool and frost-free.
  • Surfaces. MDF, plywood, chipboard, plasterboard, plaster or cement.
  • What is not covered. Anything that flexes under pressure: a thin shelf that sags in the middle will end up cracking the microcement.
  • Corners and edges. A sharp edge chips sooner than a flat surface; it is worth rounding it off a little before you start.
  • The same limit as on a countertop. Do not set a hot pan or pot down directly on it.
Properties

Properties

  • Seamless and continuous. Applied in a thin layer over the existing surface, so it does not noticeably raise the level.
  • Twenty colours. All with a matt finish, which comes from the varnish included in the kit.
  • Ready-to-use. The microcement comes pre-mixed: no measuring out or mixing aggregates.
  • Adhesion without ripping anything out. The primer is what lets you apply it over what is already there, without tearing anything off or preparing the surface with building work.
  • Cleans with water and mild soap. No abrasive products or metal scourers, which scratch the varnish.
Uses

Uses

  • Dining or coffee table
  • Shelving unit and shelf
  • Sideboard and chest of drawers
  • Ledge
  • The top of a fitted unit
Application

How to apply it

It goes on top of what you already have, with no ripping out and no rubble. The kit includes everything you need and step-by-step instructions.

  • Preparing a porous surface. On MDF, plywood, chipboard, plasterboard, plaster or cement the surface is porous and there are no grout lines to fill: apply the primer for absorbent surfaces directly.
  • Two coats of microcement. Apply with a trowel in a thin layer, letting it dry between coats. The second coat is the one that sets the final look.
  • Light sanding. With the disc included in the kit, to even out the surface before sealing.
  • Varnish. This is the layer that protects and the one that gives the matt finish. Apply every coat the instructions call for, without skipping any.

No special tools or previous experience needed. Total time depends on the surface area and on the drying times between coats.
