How to paint exteriors with Smartcover Outdoor (step by step)
- Clean the substrate: remove dust, grease and loose parts. In areas with mould/algae, clean thoroughly first and rinse.
- Repairs: fill cracks and fix defects. On new work, wait for the substrate to cure completely.
- Primer (where needed): on virgin mortar, cement or concrete substrates, apply Smart Primer ABS.
- Apply the paint: stir the product, pour it into a tray and apply 2 coats with a roller, brush or spray gun. Respect the drying time between coats.
- Finish and care: let the system cure and clean it afterwards with a damp cloth and mild detergent.
Tip: mask areas with painter's tape and remove it while still wet for crisp edges.
Frequently asked questions about Smartcover Outdoor exterior paint
How should I prepare the surface before painting?
The substrate must be dry, sound and clean. In areas with mould/algae, remove the growth first and rinse. On previously painted surfaces, remove poorly adhered areas and level them. On virgin mortar/cement substrates, wait for the curing and apply a primer.
Where should exterior paint be used?
Façades and exterior walls exposed to sun, rain and temperature changes. Ideal for vertical masonry.
What tools do I need?
Brush, short-pile/microfibre roller or spray gun, a bucket and tape to mask areas.
Do I always need a primer?
Not always. On virgin substrates (mortar, cement, concrete) and on repaints with deteriorated areas, a primer is recommended to ensure adhesion and uniformity.
Is it resistant to rainwater?
Yes, it forms a film that is impermeable to rainwater and resistant to wet rubbing, making maintenance easier.
What finish does it have?
Washable matte finish, practical and gloss-free for a modern look.
