A kitchen countertop can be coated with microcement on top of the one you already have, in a thin layer just a few millimetres thick, without ripping it out or replacing the units. The joints disappear and you are left with one continuous surface, in the same colour as the splashback and the walls if you do all three areas with the same kit.
You should know its limit before deciding: a microcement countertop handles daily use, water and grease, but not a hot pan or pot set down directly on it, and no cutting on the surface. Use a trivet and a chopping board, as you would on any countertop that is not stone. If you cook a lot and cook daily, the splashback and the walls will give you more satisfaction than the countertop.
