Ready-to-use Microcement Kits

Smartcret microcement DIY kits differ in four key aspects. Depending on these factors and how they are combined, we offer different kits.

Microcement grain size (granulometry): this is the aggregate size, and based on it we have 3 types of microcement (Smart Base, Smart Medio and Smart Liso). Depending on the finish and the level of resistance the surface you want to renovate requires (a floor is not the same as a wall, and a bathroom or kitchen is not the same as a living room), Smartcret kits will include one type of microcement or another.

Primer: this is the product responsible for making the microcement adhere to your surface material. If it is an absorbent material (plaster, cement, drywall, concrete), the Smartcret microcement kit will include Smart Primer ABS; if it is a non-absorbent material (tile, marble, porcelain/stoneware, glass mosaic), the Smartcret microcement kit will include Smart Primer PLUS.

Varnish: if you are going to apply microcement in humid environments such as the bathroom or the kitchen, you will need a kit that includes Smart Booster. However, if you are going to apply microcement in an area with lower ambient humidity (dining room, hallway or bedroom, etc.), the Smartcret kit will not include Smart Booster.

Square meters: regardless of the three factors above, all our ready-to-use microcement kits come in several size options, from the smallest covering 4 m² to the largest covering 96 m².

To know which Smartcret microcement kit you need, the first step is to define what you are going to renovate (kitchen, bathroom, shower, table, fireplace or living room). Then, define whether the surface to be coated is a wall or a floor and what type of material it is: absorbent (plaster, cement, concrete or mortar) or non-absorbent (tiles, slabs, marble, glass mosaic, ceramic or porcelain/stoneware). Finally, calculate the m² you need. With our kit selector, it will be very easy.

No, you can’t use the same microcement kit for floors and walls. Each surface has different needs: a floor withstands more foot traffic, abrasion wear and potential staining than a wall. That’s why floor kits include Smart Medio, which offers greater strength and durability. Wall kits, since they face less wear, include Smart Liso, which provides resistance with a finer, more decorative finish.

The kits for wet areas include Smart Booster, the component that strengthens Smart Varnish against moisture and daily cleaning. For the bathroom, the microcement kit for bathrooms covers the walls, the shower tray and shower walls, the countertop and the washbasin; the bathroom floor is done with the microcement kit for floors and stairs, which also includes Smart Booster. For the kitchen, the microcement kit for kitchens. The inside of the bathtub is not a DIY application.

No, because tiles and drywall are different materials and therefore require specific microcement kits. The components of our kits vary depending on whether the material is porous or not. While tiles are non-absorbent, drywall is absorbent.

All three include Smart Base as the preparation coat and Smart Liso as the finishing coat, with the primer that matches the substrate. The difference lies in the varnish: the bathroom and kitchen kits include Smart Booster, which strengthens Smart Varnish against moisture, while the walls kit does not, because it is designed for walls in dry rooms, such as the living room, bedroom, hallway or office.

No. The microcement kit for floors and stairs uses Smart Medio as the finishing microcement, with a coarser aggregate that withstands foot traffic and constant friction, and it is also the kit used for bathroom and kitchen floors. The bathroom and kitchen kits use Smart Liso, which has a finer grain, for walls, showers, countertops and washbasins. All three include Smart Booster with the varnish.

They include:

1. The right primer for each type of surface: if it’s absorbent, Smart Primer ABS; if it’s non-absorbent, Smart Primer PLUS.
   
2. Smart Jointer, the putty to fill grout lines (if you are coating tiles, slabs, glass mosaic, porcelain/stoneware, etc.).
   
3. The optimal preparation and finishing microcements for each area: Smart Base, Smart Liso or Smart Medio.
   
4. The sealing varnish, Smart Varnish, plus the Smart Booster component if the surface is in a bathroom or kitchen.
   
5. Sandpapers with the right grits to sand each product.

The main difference between these kits is the grain size (granulometry) of each one. This refers to the level of resistance and hardness the microcement needs depending on the surface. A surface like a floor, which undergoes greater wear, needs a larger aggregate like the one in Smart Medio microcement; by contrast, a wall with less wear requires a finer aggregate like Smart Liso microcement.

Our Smart Varnish has a very high protection and resistance factor, which is why some Smartcret microcement kits don’t include Smart Booster. Booster is the component added to the varnish to give the microcement extra resistance and protection in humid areas such as bathrooms and kitchens.

The only tools included in the kit are the sandpapers with the right grits for each type of microcement. The rest of the tools, such as rollers, a spatula and a trowel, can be purchased in our Smart Tools tool kit.

The microcement in our kits is compatible with a wide variety of materials, such as tiles, floor tiles, mosaic tiles, porcelain, ceramic, marble, terrazzo, plaster, plasterboard, drywall, plaster, cement, concrete, resins and mortars.

However, its application on wood (except MDF tables), parquet, plastic, metal or glass is not recommended (and we do not provide any guarantee), as these are not optimal substrates to ensure proper adhesion and long-term durability of the system.

Yes, absolutely. We have specific ready-to-use kits designed for tiles and other jointed surfaces such as mosaic tiles, porcelain, marble and more.
In fact, applying microcement over tiles is one of the most common projects among customers who purchase Smartcret ready-to-use microcement kits.

If the paint is in good condition, there will be no adhesion issues.
However, if the paint shows any damage, the microcement will not adhere properly and the surface will need to be sanded before purchasing and applying our kit.

The existing surface only needs to be removed if it is not in optimal condition — for example, if there are cracks, breaks or flaking areas.
If the surface is in good condition, you can proceed directly with your renovation using a Smartcret paneles de yesokit.

Yes, with the kits designed for it. Smartcret has two specific outdoor kits: the microcement kit for outdoor floors, with Smart Medio, and the microcement kit for outdoor walls, with Smart Liso; both include their primer and the Smart Varnish protective varnish with Smart Booster.

The indoor kits (bathroom, kitchen, walls, floors and stairs, fireplace, furniture and tables) are not designed for weather exposure: for a terrace, a patio or a facade, choose the corresponding outdoor kit.

Ready-to-use microcement is a low-thickness coating (approximately 3 mm), so it requires the surface to be as smooth and even as possible.
Textured finishes such as popcorn walls have a rough, raised surface, so they must be sanded down beforehand. Once the surface is properly leveled, our microcement kit can then be applied.

All our kits are designed so that anyone — whether experienced in DIY or not — can apply them easily and confidently. That’s precisely why they are ready to use. No contractors required — just roll up your sleeves and get started (without any building work).

All our microcement DIY kits come prepared to open and apply straight away, making home renovation simple and accessible. There is no need to add pigment, mix components or use mesh reinforcement, which significantly streamlines the installation process and makes it much easier. Although it might seem confusing at first, it’s actually very straightforward. To guide you step by step, we’ve created an interactive application guide so you can follow the process easily and confidently when applying your ready-to-use microcement in true DIY style.

To apply a Smartcret microcement kit correctly, you will need rollers, a trowel, a spatula and sandpaper. Our microcement DIY kits include the appropriate sandpapers, while all other essential tools can be found in our Smart Tools kit. The quality of the tools used during application is crucial to avoid “burning” the microcement. That’s why our trowel is specially designed to prevent burn marks, ensuring optimal performance during the application of Smartcret ready-to-use microcement.

Our ready-to-use microcement kits include enough product to cover slightly more square metres than indicated. Since our kits are designed for DIY users without prior experience, we take into account that some people may apply more product than necessary during the process.
The coverage rate of our microcement is excellent. If, on the contrary, you run out of material, there are usually two possible reasons: first, you may be applying coats that are too thick; second, the surface measurement may have been calculated incorrectly.

If the remaining product from your microcement kit is properly stored, you can use it without any problem to renovate another space. Make sure the containers are tightly sealed, clean your tools with water, and keep the product stored at an ambient temperature between 10°C and 30°C.
The only component you would need to purchase again is the varnish, especially if it has already been mixed with Smart Booster, as the pot life of that mixture is 24 hours.

You do not need to carry out the renovation immediately after purchasing a Smartcret microcement kit. You have up to one year from the date of manufacture to use it. As long as you do not exceed this period (the manufacturing date is indicated on the batch label), there will be no issue.
The kit must also be stored under suitable environmental conditions, with a temperature between 10°C and 30°C.

Our ready-to-use microcement kits already come pre-pigmented. If you decide to add pigment on your own, we cannot guarantee the final result.

Matte. All Smartcret microcement kits have a matte finish, provided by the matte Smart Varnish included in the kit, with an opaque look and no sheen. The colour is chosen from twenty shades, all with the same finish.
