Smartcover Pool is a water-based acrylic paint, matt, formulated for cement or concrete pool shells. Its elasticity lets it follow the temperature changes of the substrate without cracking, and it resists water, the alkalinity of concrete and chlorine and its derivatives at the chlorine concentrations usual in swimming pools (Spanish standard RD 742/2013); with more concentrated disinfectants it can lose colour, and chlorine tablets must not be dropped directly onto the paint.

It needs no primer. On a new shell you have to wait a month for full curing; on one that is already painted, the previous paint must be sound and well adhered, and areas with mould or algae are cleaned and disinfected beforehand. It covers 7 to 11 m² per litre per coat: the 4 L container covers between 14 and 22 m² in two coats; the price is shown above.

It is applied with a roller, a brush or a spray gun (diluted 20-25 %), between 10 and 35 ºC. It is touch-dry in 30 minutes, takes the second coat after 4-6 hours and there are two coats, with a third only if the coverage is not what you want. The pool is filled after 10-15 days. It contains an in-film anti-mould preservative. Two colours, white and blue.

Application Guide: Smartcover Pool – Paint for Cement and Concrete Pools

1. Prepare the area to be painted: before you start giving your pool its colour, make sure the surface is clean and completely dry so that the paint adheres properly. You must also isolate it beforehand from outside moisture.

2. Time to apply: stir your Smartcover Pool thoroughly before starting the application, until you see that the product is homogeneous. Apply two coats of paint with a roller, a brush or a spray gun (if you use a spray gun, dilute the paint by 20% to 25%).

3. Let the surface dry: in 30 minutes it will be touch-dry. To apply a second coat, wait 4 to 6 hours. If the coverage is not what you want, apply a third coat. Allow 10 to 15 days before filling it.
