Description of Smart Primer ABS: Microcement primer for absorbent surfaces

Smart Primer ABS is the primer in the Smartcret system for absorbent substrates: plasterboard, plaster, mortar, cement or concrete. It is a water-based acrylic emulsion that acts as a bonding bridge between the substrate and Smart Base and, in addition, evens out the absorption across the whole surface so that the microcement dries uniformly.

Technical data sheet figures: coverage of 8 to 12 m² per litre, pH 7-8, solids content 10-12 %, VOC below 5 g/L, touch-dry in 30 minutes. It is applied with a microfibre roller or a brush, in an even film, with the substrate clean and free of dust, grease and poorly adhered paint residue, between 5 and 30 ºC. After 30 minutes the first coat of Smart Base can be applied.

Containers of 0.5 L at $12 (shown in your currency at checkout), 1 L at $18 and 2 L at $33. The microcement kits on plasterboard, plaster or cement include it in the quantity for each size; on its own it serves to restock or for a substrate that is primed separately. For tiles, terrazzo, marble or varnished surfaces the primer is Smart Primer PLUS.

Application

  1. Before applying the primer, the substrate must be dry, clean, and firm, free of grease or oils.
  2. Apply one layer of Smart Primer ABS with a brush or microfiber roller on the absorbent surface.
  3. Wait 30 minutes for the primer to dry properly.
  4. You can then start with the first coat of our ready-to-use microcement Smart Base.

Only use the plastic trowel — a metal one leaves black marks. The Smartcret team was very helpful. I love my new shower and get so many compliments on it!
