What the Smart Microcement Kit 8 m² · walls, showers, countertops and sinks · tile contains

The ready-to-use Smart Microcement Kit covers up to 8 m² and brings together the products needed to cover the walls, showers, countertops and sinks of a bathroom or a kitchen, from the primer through to the finishing varnish.

It covers glazed surfaces such as tile, mosaic tile, marble, porcelain, terrazzo and stone slab, both in shower areas and on vertical surfaces.

The 8 m² Smart Microcement Kit for walls, showers, countertops and sinks on tile is made up of:

• 1 Smart Jointer 1,5 kg: filling and smoothing compound for filling tile and mosaic tile grout lines, with strong adhesion and fast drying. Its main function is to smooth the surface before applying Smartcret ready-to-use microcement. It also withstands water and ambient damp.
• 1 Smart Primer PLUS 1 L: water-based acrylic primer, used to improve the adhesion of Smartcret microcement on glazed surfaces.
• 1 Smart Base 16 kg: ready-to-use preparation microcement, already coloured. This high-adhesion microcement has a coarser grain and is applied as a base before applying Smart Liso microcement.
• 1 Smart Liso 6 kg: ready-to-use finishing microcement, already coloured. This high-adhesion microcement has a finer grain and is applied as the last layer of the Smartcret microcement system. A burnished or clouded effect can be achieved during application.
• 1 Smart Varnish 2 L: water-based varnish for protecting microcement, with high resistance to abrasion, cleaning agents, wear and sunlight. It enhances the colour of the ready-to-use microcement. Available in a matt or satin finish.
• 2 Smart Booster 50 g component B added to the varnish for greater protection against chemical agents, more hardness and abrasion resistance.
• Sanding discs for sanding the different layers while the products are being applied: 5 grit 40 discs, 10 grit 220 discs and 5 grit 400 discs.

The tools are not included in the kit. To apply the products correctly you will need rollers, a tray, protective masking tape and a polycarbonate trowel, all available in the Smartcret tool kit.

On use on countertops: in the bathroom microcement performs well because it withstands everyday water and ambient damp, though not standing water. In the kitchen we do not recommend it and we do not give a guarantee. If you still decide to apply it, bear these three conditions in mind:

1. Microcement is not fireproof. Do not rest pans, frying pans or hot containers directly on the countertop. Always use a board or a trivet.
2. Do not cut food directly on the countertop. It does not replace a chopping board and the marks stay visible.
3. Act quickly on stains. Oil, vinegar or coffee should be cleaned off as soon as possible with Smart Cleaner. Smart Varnish together with Smart Booster provides chemical resistance for a maximum of 8 hours (see the table in the technical data sheet).

Application of Smart Microcement Kit for Kitchens, Bathrooms and Showers - Covers 8 m² of Non-Absorbent Surfaces

1. Clean and degrease the surface. Once dry, tape off the area where the microcement will be applied.
2. Apply 1 layer of Smart Jointer to fill the grout joints and leave the surface seamless. Let the product dry for 24 hours. Then, sand with a 40-grit sandpaper until the surface is completely smooth.
3. Prepare the surface for treatment. Use a roller to apply a coat of Smart Primer PLUS. Let it dry for 30 minutes.
4. Wet the Smart Roller with Smart Base and spread the microcement thinly (less than 1 mm) vertically and then horizontally over the surface. Smooth it out with the polycarbonate trowel in arching and multi-directional movements. Repeat this process until the surface is completely covered and smooth. Allow 6 hours of drying time between layers and sand after each layer with a 40-grit sandpaper to ensure there are no burrs. Apply a total of 2 layers of Smart Base.
5. Repeat the same process with Smart Liso. Use the Smart Roller and polycarbonate trowel to spread the microcement thinly (less than 0.5 mm) until the surface is covered. Allow 6 hours of drying time between layers and sand after each layer with a 220-grit sandpaper. Remove the tape after application. Apply a total of 2 layers of Smart Liso. Let it dry for 24 hours after the last layer.
6. Add the Smart Booster to the Smart Varnish container. Gently shake the container manually for a few minutes. While the mixture rests, apply tape to the necessary areas. Let the mixture sit for 5-10 minutes.
7. Once the Smart Varnish mixture is ready, apply the first coat of the microcement sealer. The mixture has a shelf life of 24 hours, allowing it to be used for the second and third coats. Each coat should dry for 4 hours. Once the final coat is dry, remove the tape. Remember to sand the first and second coats with a 400-grit sandpaper. The total curing time for the varnish is 7 days to achieve maximum performance.

*Important: maintaining a 45º angle with the trowel is key in the application of Smartcret microcement. Otherwise, the final result may not be as expected. Our trowel, available in the tool kit, is anti-scald. Buying another trowel could burn the Smartcret microcement, thus damaging the final result. It is important to keep in mind that the sandpapers included in the kit are designed for manual sanding. If an electric sander is used, it is quite likely that the material will be damaged due to excessive pressure.
