What does the microcement kit for concrete kitchen walls, 8 m², contain?

The 8 m² microcement kit for concrete kitchen walls and absorbent surfaces is a complete set with everything you need, from primer to sealing, including the microcement and varnish. It has been created to cover kitchen walls made of absorbent materials such as drywall, plaster, cement and similar substrates.

The 8 m² microcement kit for plaster, drywall or cement kitchen walls includes:

• 1 Smart Primer ABS 1 L: water-based acrylic primer. Its main purpose is to improve adhesion between the substrate and the microcement.
• 1 Smart Base 16 kg: ready-to-use preparation microcement, already pigmented. This microcement has a coarser grain size and is applied as the base layer before applying Smart Liso.
• 1 Smart Liso 6 kg: ready-to-use finishing microcement, already coloured. This microcement has a finer grain size and provides that elegant touch with smooth, seamless kitchen walls.
• 1 Smart Varnish 2 L: water-based varnish that seals and protects the microcement against daily wear, water contact and moisture. It enhances the colour of the microcement and is available in matt or satin finish.
• 1 Smart Booster 100 g: component B, added to the varnish to provide greater protection against chemical agents, as well as increased hardness and abrasion resistance.
• Sanding discs: included for sanding the different coats during product application. The kit contains 6 sanding discs grit 40, 10 sanding discs grit 220 and 6 sanding discs grit 400.

*** Important: a perfect finish also depends on using the right tools. Use ours and make sure you get a good result. They are not included in this kit, but you can add Smart Tools to your cart.

DIY application of the microcement kit for concrete kitchen walls, 8 m²

You are going to enjoy applying this kit to your kitchen walls, whether they are made of plaster, drywall or cement. With this kit, the right tools and a little patience, you can renovate your kitchen walls and give them that “straight out of a design magazine” look.

1. Check the walls

Make sure the area has no cracks, dents or similar imperfections. Once checked — and repaired if necessary — ensure the surface is clean and free from grease. When it is completely dry, we recommend marking the edges of the area to be treated with masking tape.

2. Prime for better adhesion

Prepare the surface so the microcement can bond properly to the absorbent substrate. How? Use a roller to apply one coat of Smart Primer ABS. Leave it to dry for 30 minutes.

3. Build the base

Apply the first coat of microcement. After stirring the microcement, spread a thin 1 mm layer of Smart Base with Smart Roller, working first vertically and then horizontally.

Next, use the polycarbonate trowel at a 45° angle to smooth the surface with curved movements in different directions until it is completely even. Leave to dry for 6 hours and sand after each coat with grit 40. Then apply a second coat.

4. Add the finish

Repeat the same process with Smart Liso, applying thin coats across the entire surface. Leave to dry for 6 hours before sanding with grit 220 and applying the second coat.

5. Seal and protect

Add Smart Booster to the Smart Varnish container. Shake well so both components mix properly, then apply 3 coats with the microfibre roller. Leave 4 hours of drying time between coats and sand with grit 400 after the first and second coats.

The curing time for the varnish to reach its maximum performance is 7 days.

Important: for the best result, the trowel must be kept at a 45° angle, as mentioned above. If this angle is not respected, the final finish may be affected.

*This 8 m² microcement kit includes sanding discs for manual sanding. We do not recommend using electric sanders, as excessive friction may “burn” the microcement and affect the final result.
