What you need separately

What’s included and what do I need separately?

The kit includes all the Smartcret system products needed for your surface and your square metres: you will find them detailed one by one, with their quantities, in the ‘Description’ tab below. You will also need a sealer roller, a polycarbonate trowel and basic protection and application tools. The microcement comes ready to use, already pigmented; only the final coat of varnish is mixed with its booster.

How do I choose the coverage?

Measure the surface to be covered: for walls, width × height of each section; for floors, worktops or furniture, length × width of each face. Subtract only large openings, add up the total and add a 10% margin. Choose the kit whose m² is equal to or greater than the result; if in doubt between two, go for the larger one. How long does the project take?

The full project takes 3 days. The varnish reaches full cure from 7 days.

Can I return or exchange the kit?

Yes: you have 15 days from receipt for exchanges and returns. Return shipping is at the customer’s expense and you will need the invoice to process it. See the full conditions.

Is it right for my surface?

Each kit is formulated for a specific project and surface: you will find it in the kit name and in the line with ✓ above the coverage selector. If your surface is different (for example, plasterboard instead of tiles), use the assistant at the top and we will take you to the right kit. First repair any loose piece, active crack or damp problem.

This 16 m² microcement kit for concrete stairs comes with everything you need to renovate your cement or concrete steps all by yourself—no building work, no hassle. Achieve a seamless, durable and non-slip finish with your own hands. Inside the box, you’ll find:

2× Smart Primer ABS 1 L – primer to ensure perfect adhesion on absorbent surfaces.
2× Smart Base 16 Kg – base microcement that gives body and strength.
1× Smart Medio 16 Kg – finishing microcement with a fine texture and non-slip effect.
2× Smart Varnish 2 L – water-based protective varnish to seal the surface without changing its look.
2× Smart Booster 100 g – additive that enhances the varnish’s mechanical and chemical resistance.
Included sandpaper: 12× grit 40, 20× grit 80 and 12× grit 400.

Application

How to apply the 16 m² microcement kit for concrete stairs and transform them without renovation work

Got a lot of steps ahead? Perfect. This kit was made for big challenges… and for you to conquer them without being a pro. Apply microcement yourself on up to 16 m² of concrete stairs. Easy, clean and hassle-free.

Follow these steps and work your magic on every step:

1. Deep clean

Start by getting everything in order: remove any dust, grease or construction residue. The surface must be clean, dry, solid and crack-free. If it’s not stable—fix it before you begin.

2. Time to prime

Using a roller, apply one even coat of Smart Primer ABS and let it dry for 30 minutes. This gets the surface ready so the microcement sticks without a fuss.

3. Base microcement: let’s go!

Apply two coats of Smart Base using the Smart Roller: first vertically, then horizontally. Smooth it out with the polycarbonate trowel at a 45° angle. Sand between coats with 40-grit sandpaper and let each one dry for 6 hours. This is where the transformation begins.

4. Finishing microcement: level up

Now it’s Smart Medio’s turn. Apply two thin coats, sanding with 80-grit paper between layers. Let each coat dry for 6 hours. You’ll get a strong, safe, anti-slip surface that’s made to be walked on.

5. Final protection—time to show off

Mix Smart Varnish with Smart Booster and apply 3 coats. Sand the first two with 400-grit paper. Choose between matte or satin finish. Wait 7 days for the varnish to fully cure and… get ready to show off your revamped staircase!
