Before you buy

Check if this kit is right for your bathroom

This solution is designed to renovate building substrates (cement, concrete, plaster or drywall). Check these four points before choosing size and colour.

Compatible surface

Building substrates: cement, concrete, plaster or drywall. This is not the right kit for tiled surfaces with joints.

Coverage

Measure the height × width of each surface. The calculator adds a 10% margin and recommends the right kit size, or a combination for larger projects.

What's included

Primer, microcement base coats, finish, varnish, additive and sandpaper: the complete layer-by-layer system.

What you need separately

Sealer roller, polycarbonate trowel and basic tools. You can find them in microcement tools.

FREE shipping included in the price. Delivery times depend on your country; you will see the estimate at checkout.

Everything you need to know before you start

What’s included and what do I need separately?

The kit includes all the Smartcret system products needed for your surface and your square metres: you will find them detailed one by one, with their quantities, in the ‘Description’ tab below. You will also need a sealer roller, a polycarbonate trowel and basic protection and application tools. The microcement comes ready to use, already pigmented; only the final coat of varnish is mixed with its booster.

How do I choose the coverage?

Measure the surface to be covered: for walls, width × height of each section; for floors, worktops or furniture, length × width of each face. Subtract only large openings, add up the total and add a 10% margin. Choose the kit whose m² is equal to or greater than the result; if in doubt between two, go for the larger one. You can also use the calculator in the selector.

How long does the project take?

The full project takes 3 days. The varnish reaches full cure from 7 days.

Can I return or exchange the kit?

Yes: you have 14 days from delivery for exchanges and returns. Return shipping is at the customer’s expense and your order number is enough for us. See the full conditions.

Is it right for my surface?

Each kit is formulated for a specific project and surface: you will find it in the kit name and in the line with ✓ above the coverage selector. If your surface is different (for example, plasterboard instead of tiles), use the assistant at the top and we will take you to the right kit. First repair any loose piece, active crack or damp problem.

Description

What’s in the 6 m² microcement kit for a cement or concrete fireplace

In just a few days, with our ready-to-use microcement kit, your absorbent fireplace will turn into a continuous, modern, durable surface with its own personality. The credit is all yours—at Smartcret we fly the flag for DIY makeovers.

Worried about heat? No stress: this kit is designed for the exterior of the fireplace (front and surrounding areas). It withstands normal temperature changes without warping. Note: it’s not fireproof, so do not apply it inside your absorbent fireplace (cement, concrete, drywall or plaster) or on areas exposed to direct flame.

What’s included (up to 6 m²):

  • 1 × Smart Primer ABS (1 L): primer that ensures the coating adheres like a glove to drywall, plaster, cement or concrete (absorbent substrates).
  • 1 × Smart Liso (6 kg): ready-to-use finishing microcement, already tinted, built to handle daily wear. Result: a silky-smooth touch you’ll love.
  • 1 × Smart Varnish (2 L): protective varnish. Available in matt or satin.
  • 6 × Sandpapers, grit 220: to smooth and remove burrs between Smart Liso coats.
  • 3 × Sandpapers, grit 400: to fine-tune between Smart Varnish coats.

👉 Important: tools are not included (trowel, roller, Smart Roller, tray, spatula, bucket, brush, etc.). We recommend adding our Smartcret tools kit for an easier, more professional application. Low-quality tools can damage the finish—we can’t take responsibility for that.

Additional information

Important considerations for cladding your inbuilt fireplace with our 6 m² microcement kit

  • Exterior surfaces only. Apply microcement only on the outside of the fireplace: the front and surrounding areas. As it is not fireproof, do not apply it on surfaces in direct contact with flames.
  • Tools matter. For the best result, we’ve designed a dedicated tools kit. Using other tools not tested by Smartcret or of inferior quality may harm the finish.
  • If your fireplace is uneven, level it first. The substrate must be optimal before applying microcement; if it isn’t, level with a suitable mortar.
  • Corners and edges. Use a spatula to achieve a uniform, burr-free finish.
  • Between coats. Lightly sand and remove dust before continuing.
  • Trowel angle. Always 45°.
  • Wait before use. Do not light or use the fireplace for at least seven days—that’s the time our varnish needs to reach its maximum performance.
  • Cleaning. Clean your microcement fireplace with water and pH-neutral soap; avoid abrasive products. At Smartcret, we recommend Smart Cleaner (eco detergent for deeper cleaning) and Smart Wax (a maintenance wax to keep the finish impeccable for much longer).
Properties

Benefits of decorating your inbuilt fireplace with microcement

  • No-renovation makeover & DIY: you can tackle this project on your own. With this ready-to-use kit, you’ll have a new-looking fireplace in just a couple of days.
  • Super-versatile finish: with our range of colours and finishes, give your fireplace the style you want—from minimal and modern to rustic. Personalisation without limits.
  • Heat resistant: temperature changes won’t warp or damage microcement—so don’t worry. As long as you don’t use it inside the firebox, you’re good.
  • Seamless continuity: no joints, no visual interruptions. A uniform, elegant finish that wins you over at first glance.
  • Low maintenance: think you’ll be cleaning every day? Nope. A weekly wipe with water and pH-neutral soap is enough.
Application

How to apply the 6 m² microcement kit for an inbuilt fireplace—correctly

Today’s the day to start something you’ll show off for years. Want a magazine-worthy result without a never-ending renovation? You’ve got it.

This weekend you’re the boss: sleeves up, playlist on, and an inbuilt fireplace ready to steal every shot. No tricks, no rushing—great finishes come from respecting timings. Hit play, ventilate the space, and follow these steps to the letter. If you can paint a wall, you can do this; the key is not skipping a thing.

Remember:exterior surfaces only (front and surrounding areas). Bye cement, concrete, drywall or plaster texture—hello microcement.

  1. Substrate OK? Your absorbent fireplace (cement, concrete, drywall or plaster) must be sound, dry, and clean, free of dust and grease. If there are flakes or cracks, repair first.
  2. Prime with Smart Primer ABS: grab the orange roller and apply one even coat. After ~30 minutes your inbuilt fireplace is ready for the ready-to-use microcement.
  3. Three coats of Smart Liso microcement: with Smart Roller, apply a thin coat (max 0.5 mm), first vertically, then horizontally. Then smooth with the trowel at a 45° angle. After 6 hours, hand-sand with grit 220 and apply a second coat following the same protocol. And then, a third coat. Your fireplace is photo-ready.
  4. Protect with Smart Varnish: apply 3 coats of the protective varnish, leaving 4 hours between coats and sanding with grit 400 after the 1st and 2nd. This shield keeps the finish beautiful, durable, and easy to clean.

Wait 7 days before lighting and using the fireplace—this is when our varnish reaches its maximum performance. Then it’s sofa, blanket… and fireplace in the spotlight.

Important:

  • Hand sanding only; an electric sander can burn microcement due to excess pressure.
  • Keep the trowel at a 45° angle.
