Renovating 16 m² of bathroom floor may sound like a big project, but it becomes much easier when you know exactly which product to use at each stage. This ready-to-use microcement kit includes everything you need to transform floors on absorbent surfaces such as cement, concrete or mortar, without having to buy primers, microcements and varnishes separately.

Inside the box, you will find a complete system to prepare the substrate, build the base, create the decorative finish and protect the final result. Each product has its own purpose and is designed to help you move forward step by step, even if you have never applied microcement before.

• 2 Smart Primer ABS 1 L: water-based acrylic primer to prepare the absorbent substrate before applying the microcement. It helps improve adhesion and regulates surface absorption to make application more even.
• 2 Smart Base 16 kg: ready-to-use preparation microcement. This is the layer that gives body to the system, helps even out the substrate and creates a suitable base before the final finish. It is not the final decorative layer, but it is a key part of building a good result.
• 2 Smart Liso 3 kg and 6 kg: ready-to-use finishing microcement. It is applied after Smart Base and provides the chosen colour, the final texture and that seamless look that completely changes the appearance of the bathroom floor.
• 2 Smart Varnish 2 L: ready-to-use water-based polyurethane varnish. It seals and protects the microcement against wear, cleaning and normal contact with water in the bathroom. It also helps enhance the colour of the coating. Available in matt or satin finish.
• 2 Smart Booster 100 g: component B added to the varnish to reinforce the final protection, improve hardness and increase resistance to chemical agents and abrasion.
• Sandpaper discs: included to work the different layers throughout the process. You will find 12 discs of 40-grit sandpaper, 20 discs of 220-grit sandpaper and 12 discs of 400-grit sandpaper.

Recommended uses of this kit

This microcement kit is designed to renovate up to 16 m² of bathroom floor on absorbent surfaces. It is an ideal option for large bathrooms, main bathrooms, two small bathrooms or projects where you want to transform a larger area with the same seamless finish.

Compatible with floors made of:

• Cement.
• Concrete.
• Mortar.

However, the floor must be in optimal condition before applying Smartcret microcement. If there is moisture coming from below, it must be treated beforehand with a suitable primer to block the moisture and prevent it from passing through to the microcement.

Likewise, any cracks or other imperfections must be repaired beforehand, as microcement is a low-thickness decorative coating.

This kit is not suitable if your current floor is made of tiles, stoneware, porcelain, marble or terrazzo. In that case, you need a kit for non-absorbent surfaces.

How to apply this microcement kit without making mistakes or losing momentum

Renovating 16 m² of bathroom floor feels a little more demanding than updating a small guest toilet, but it does not have to be complicated. The idea is simple: prepare the floor properly, get organised before you start and work layer by layer, without rushing and without improvising.

This kit is designed so you can do it yourself, whether you want to transform a large bathroom or two small bathrooms. You just need to follow the right order, respect the drying times and work through each stage calmly. The rest comes together layer by layer.

1. Start by taking a close look at the floor

Before opening any product, check the entire surface. The floor must be clean, dry, firm, level and in good condition. Remove dust and dirt, and make sure there are no cracks, dents, loose areas or moisture coming from below.

On a larger surface, preparing the substrate properly saves you problems later. The better the starting floor is, the easier it will be to achieve an even finish.

2. The first real step: Smart Primer ABS

Apply an even coat of Smart Primer ABS over the absorbent surface. This primer helps improve the adhesion of the microcement and regulates the absorption of the floor.

Leave it to dry for 30 minutes. It may not be the most visible step, but it is one of the most important for making the whole system work as it should.

3. Smart Base: building a good base

Now apply Smart Base in 2 thin coats. This stage gives body to the system, helps even out the substrate and prepares the floor for the final finish.

Leave 6 hours between coats and sand with 40-grit sandpaper. Work by sections with the Smart Roller, without overloading the product, and smooth it well with the trowel. Here, it is not about who goes faster, but who controls each pass better.

4. Smart Liso: this is where the change starts to show

Once the base is ready, it is time for Smart Liso. This is the finishing microcement and the product responsible for the chosen colour, the final texture and that seamless look that transforms the bathroom floor.

Apply 2 thin coats, leave 6 hours between them and gently sand with 220-grit sandpaper. At this stage, it is worth paying attention to your movement, pressure and details, because this is where the result starts to look like what you had in mind.

5. Smart Varnish + Smart Booster: final protection

After 24 hours, mix Smart Booster with Smart Varnish and apply 3 coats of varnish, leaving 4 hours between coats, to seal the microcement and reinforce its resistance to daily use, cleaning and normal contact with water in the bathroom. Sand the first and second coats with 400-grit sandpaper.

You can choose a matt or satin finish, depending on the style you want to achieve: more natural and discreet, or with an extra touch of light.

Avoid using the bathroom too soon. The varnish reaches its maximum performance after 7 days, so give it time for the final result to be properly protected.

Smart Tips to make 16 m² feel manageable

✔️ Get everything ready before you start. Products, tools, sandpaper and the guide should all be close to hand. Stopping halfway through the application never helps.

✔️ Work by sections. In a large bathroom or two small bathrooms, dividing the surface helps you move forward with more control.

✔️ The trowel has its trick too. Keep it at an approximate 45º angle during application to control the product better, avoid marks and achieve a more even finish.

✔️ Thin coats, always. Applying too much product can create marks, ridges, irregularities and cracks.

✔️ Respect each grit. 40 grit for Smart Base, 220 grit for Smart Liso and 400 grit for the varnish. An electric sander can burn the microcement due to excess friction.

✔️ Do not rush the drying times. 30 minutes for the primer, 6 hours between microcement coats and 7 days for the varnish to reach its maximum performance.
