Before you buy

Check if this kit is right for your bathroom

This solution is designed to renovate jointed surfaces (tiles, mosaic, floor tiles…) without removing them. Check these four points before choosing size and colour.

Compatible surface

Surfaces with stable joints: tiles, mosaic, floor tiles, terrazzo or marble. This is not the right kit for plaster, drywall or cement substrates.

Coverage

Measure the height × width of each surface. The calculator adds a 10% margin and recommends the right kit size, or a combination for larger projects.

What's included

Joint filler, primer, microcement base coats, finish, varnish, additive and sandpaper: the complete layer-by-layer system.

What you need separately

Sealer roller, polycarbonate trowel and basic tools. You can find them in microcement tools.

FREE shipping included in the price. Delivery times depend on your country; you will see the estimate at checkout.

Everything you need to know before you start

What’s included and what do I need separately?

The kit includes all the Smartcret system products needed for your surface and your square metres: you will find them detailed one by one, with their quantities, in the ‘Description’ tab below. You will also need a sealer roller, a polycarbonate trowel and basic protection and application tools. The microcement comes ready to use, already pigmented; only the final coat of varnish is mixed with its booster.

How do I choose the coverage?

Measure the surface to be covered: for walls, width × height of each section; for floors, worktops or furniture, length × width of each face. Subtract only large openings, add up the total and add a 10% margin. Choose the kit whose m² is equal to or greater than the result; if in doubt between two, go for the larger one. You can also use the calculator in the selector.

How long does the project take?

The full project takes 3 days. The varnish reaches full cure from 7 days.

Can I return or exchange the kit?

Yes: you have 14 days from delivery for exchanges and returns. Return shipping is at the customer’s expense and your order number is enough for us. See the full conditions.

Is it right for my surface?

Each kit is formulated for a specific project and surface: you will find it in the kit name and in the line with ✓ above the coverage selector. If your surface is different (for example, plasterboard instead of tiles), use the assistant at the top and we will take you to the right kit. First repair any loose piece, active crack or damp problem.

Description

What is this 48 m² microcement kit for jointed floors designed for and what's included?

When you want to make a major change but the idea of renovation work, rubble and everything that comes with it puts you off, that is when our microcement kit for jointed floors up to 48 m² comes into play.

It is designed to renovate existing floors with visible joints without having to remove the previous covering. No building work, no dust and no rubble — that is how easy it is to cover a large floor with it.

It is a system that is applied in layers, levelling the joints and turning the surface into a seamless, modern floor with more grip that is resistant to the daily wear and tear of rooms such as the living room, bedroom, playroom or home office.

The best part? You can apply it yourself with the right tools. They are not included in the kit, but you can find them in our online microcement store and add them to your basket. So, what products will you find in the kit?

  • 6 x Smart Jointer (1.5 kg): to fill and level the joints, leaving the surface smooth and ready.
  • 6 x Smart Primer PLUS (1 L): primer designed to achieve maximum adhesion on non-absorbent surfaces such as terrazzo, marble, mosaic tiles, floor tiles, wall tiles or porcelain.
  • 6 x Smart Base (16 kg): already pigmented preparation microcement. It is responsible for levelling the surface.
  • 3 x Smart Medio (16 kg): finishing microcement, ready to use and pigmented. It provides the final texture with more grip and resistance to heavy foot traffic.
  • 2 x Smart Varnish (5 L): water-based varnish, available in matt or satin, which protects against moisture, stains and intensive use. It also seals the colour.
  • 2 x Smart Booster (250 g): component B that reinforces the chemical and mechanical resistance of the varnish.
  • 36 x 40-grit sandpapers: for sanding Smart Jointer and Smart Base.
  • 60 x 80-grit sandpapers: for smoothing Smart Medio.
  • 36 x 400-grit sandpapers: for smoothing the first coats of varnish.

Key aspects to renovate your floor like a professional

Good planning is what makes the difference between a good result and an excellent one. So before you get started on your no-build renovation, pay attention to these tips. They will help ensure that renovating your floor with the microcement kit for jointed floors up to 48 m² gives you a flawless finish.

🧱 Is the substrate in good condition?

  • The first step towards a successful result is having a solid base. Check the condition of your tiled floor carefully before applying microcement.
  • Are there any cracks, fissures, chips or loose tiles? Repair them before applying the ready-to-use system. If you do not, the microcement will replicate any existing damage and the result will not be what you expect.

👣 Drying, curing and when you can walk on the floor

The larger the project, the more patient you need to be:

  • The Smart Varnish + Smart Booster mix has a pot life of 24 hours. After that time, it must be discarded.
  • After applying the varnish, avoid walking on the floor for at least 48 to 72 hours.
  • The full curing time of the floor is 7 complete days. After that, it can be used as normal.

Important: even if the floor feels dry to the touch, the varnish is still curing internally, so it is essential to respect these times in order for it to reach its maximum performance.

🪑 Be careful when dragging furniture and chairs

Your floor is designed to withstand everyday use, but taking a few simple steps to protect it and extend its lifespan is always a good idea.

  • Do not drag furniture directly across your microcement floor.
  • Place protectors on the legs of chairs, stools, sofas, armchairs and similar furniture.

🧽 Cleaning and maintenance during the first few days

It is important not to mop the floor or apply cleaning products during the first 7 days. The microcement is still curing, so it is best to leave it undisturbed. After that, cleaning and maintaining your microcement floor is very simple:

  • Clean with water and pH-neutral soap.
  • Do not use bleach, ammonia, abrasive products, scouring pads or metal brushes, as they may damage the finish.
  • Dry up water and liquid spills as soon as possible. Occasional contact with water or liquids is not a problem, but constant exposure is.

🪶 Thin coats and light sanding: delicacy matters on large surfaces

Even though it is a large surface and you may be tempted to apply more product and work more intensively, the key is to take it slowly:

  • Apply thin coats. Follow the interactive application guide and always work with thin layers.
  • Respect the drying times between coats. This is essential for an excellent result.
  • Sand with the correct grit for each product, and do so gently to achieve an even finish.
  • Keep the trowel at a 45° angle. This will help ensure a uniform result.

A careful application makes all the difference to the final finish.

⚒️ The right tools for an optimal result

The tools used during the microcement application have a major impact on the final result. Using untested tools can burn the microcement and completely ruin the finish of the coating.

You can purchase the Smartcret tool kit in our store.

🎯 Result

By following these recommendations, your microcement floor will keep looking like new for much longer.

How to apply the microcement kit for terrazo or tile floors up to 48 m² (without it turning into an ordeal)

If you are renovating a 48 m² floor, the key is to take your time and work carefully. Rushing is never a good idea. You need to apply the product evenly, in thin coats, respecting the drying times and using the right tools for each step. The pace of the playlist is up to you:

1. Clean and prepare the floor

  • Sweep or vacuum the floor and then mop it to remove any existing dust or dirt.
  • An optimal substrate is your best ally if you want the best possible result. Check that the tiled surface is in perfect condition. If not, now is the time to repair it.

2. Smart Jointer: goodbye to the joints

  • Filling the joints is the first step towards a seamless and even floor.
  • Let it dry for 24 hours.
  • Sand with 40-grit sandpaper and remove any residual dust.

3. Smart Primer PLUS: connect the substrate and the microcement

  • Apply the primer with a roller.
  • Let it dry for 30 minutes.

4. Smart Base: level the surface

  • Apply a thin coat with the Smart Roller and smooth it with the trowel at a 45° angle.
  • Let it dry for 6 hours.
  • Sand manually with 40-grit sandpaper.
  • Repeat with one more coat.

5. Smart Medio: the character your floor needs

  • Apply a thin coat with the Smart Roller and finish spreading it with the trowel.
  • Let it dry for 6 hours.
  • Sand with 80-grit sandpaper.
  • Repeat the same process with a second and final coat.

6. Varnish + Booster: long-lasting protection and sealing

  • Mix both products and shake well.
  • Apply a total of 3 coats with a roller.
  • Let each coat dry for 4 hours.
  • Sand lightly after the first and second coats.

7. Curing: where patience becomes your greatest virtue

  • It may feel dry to the touch after the first 48 to 72 hours, but it reaches maximum resistance after 7 days of curing.
  • Do not wear high heels during those days and do not drag furniture or other objects across the floor either.
