Description

What is the 96 m² microcement kit for jointed floors and what does it include?

When it comes to renovating a very large floor, the last thing you need is unnecessary complications. That is exactly why the 96 m² microcement kit for jointed floors exists.

It is designed to renovate non-absorbent surfaces with joints, such as terrazzo, marble, tiles, wall tiles, stoneware or porcelain, without building work, dust or rubble. The system is applied directly over the existing floor, with no need to remove the previous surface.

It is a layer-by-layer system that delivers a non-slip, modern finish with a greater sense of visual spaciousness and easy cleaning. To achieve an optimal result, it is essential to use the right tools during the process. Using tools that are not recommended or tested may affect the final appearance of the floor.

The tools are not included in the kit, but you can add them to your basket to ensure a professional finish in your DIY project. What you will find in the kit to finally renovate your floor is:

  • 12 x Smart Jointer (1.5 kg): to fill and level the joints, leaving the surface smooth and ready.
  • 12 x Smart Primer PLUS (1 L): primer that guarantees maximum adhesion on non-absorbent surfaces such as terrazzo, marble, mosaic tiles, floor tiles, wall tiles or porcelain.
  • 12 x Smart Base (16 kg): preparation microcement, ready to use and pigmented. It is responsible for levelling the surface.
  • 6 x Smart Medio (16 kg): finishing microcement, already coloured. It gives the floor its non-slip texture and resistance to daily wear.
  • 4 x Smart Varnish (5 L): water-based varnish, available in matt or satin finish, which seals the colour and protects against stains, moisture and heavy use.
  • 4 x Smart Booster (250 g): additive that reinforces the chemical and mechanical resistance of the varnish.
  • 72 x 40-grit sandpapers: for sanding Smart Jointer and Smart Base.
  • 120 x 80-grit sandpapers: for sanding Smart Medio.
  • 72 x 400-grit sandpapers: for smoothing the first coats of varnish.

Key things to keep in mind to renovate your floor like a professional

Before starting a large-scale renovation, it is important to be clear about a few key points so that the finish on your floor is not just good, but excellent. By following these tips, you will renovate your floor like a professional.

🧱 Is the substrate in good condition?

  • A good base is essential to ensure an even result. Check the condition of the floor before starting the renovation. There should be no cracks, fissures, chips or any kind of damage.
  • Any small imperfection will be visually reproduced by the microcement, which is why it is important to repair any irregularities now.

👣 Drying, curing and when you can walk on the floor

Patience is truly put to the test in large-scale projects:

  • The Smart Varnish + Smart Booster mixture has a 24-hour pot life. After that, it can no longer be used and must be discarded.
  • The floor should not be walked on for at least 48 to 72 hours after the varnish has been applied.
  • To reach its maximum performance, the varnish needs a full 7 days of curing before it can be used normally.

Important: the floor will feel dry to the touch much sooner, but the varnish will still be curing internally. That is why it is necessary to respect the full drying and curing time.

🪑 Do not drag furniture and chairs

Your new floor can handle the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but it is not designed to withstand heavy dragging across the surface. So taking a few small precautions to extend its lifespan is always worthwhile:

  • Do not drag furniture directly across the floor.
  • Use protectors on the legs or supports of chairs, stools, sofas, armchairs and similar items.

🧽 Cleaning and maintenance during the first few days

Avoid cleaning your floor during the first week, as the varnish is still curing and does not need any cleaning products. Once that time has passed, maintenance is very simple:

  • Clean with water and pH-neutral soap.
  • Avoid using bleach, ammonia, abrasive products, scouring pads or metal brushes that could damage the finish.
  • Be careful with liquid spills and standing water. Dry them as soon as possible. Your floor will withstand occasional contact with liquids, but not if they remain in constant contact for hours.

🪶 Application on large areas: thin coats and gentle sanding

On large areas, it is important to work with care to achieve the right result:

  • Apply thin coats following the interactive guide.
  • Respect the drying times between each coat.
  • Use the correct grit for sanding at each stage of the process.
  • Keep the trowel at a 45° angle for an even application.

Following the step-by-step application process is essential for a spectacular result, especially on larger surfaces.

⚒️ The right tools for an optimal result

Using the right tools to apply microcement will prevent the material from being “burnt” or left with a poor texture.

The tools are not included in the kit, but you can add the Smartcret tool kit to your purchase to ensure a professional finish.

🎯 Result

By following these recommendations and tips, your microcement floor will keep its beautiful, durable and freshly finished look for longer.

Application

How to apply your 96 m² microcement kit for terrazzo, tile or marble floors (without getting lost along the way)

This kit is designed for large-scale projects where the floor renovation must be carried out in a specific order and using the right tools for the job. Here are the process guidelines in detail:

1. Preparation: clean thoroughly and inspect every detail

  • Sweep well or vacuum thoroughly and then mop to remove any dirt or residue that may be left.
  • A floor in good condition will provide the perfect base for microcement. So if there is any damage, now is the time to carry out the necessary repairs.

2. Smart Jointer: cover the joints

  • Covering the joints will be the first step towards a seamless and even floor.
  • Let it dry for 24 hours.
  • Sand with 40-grit sandpaper and remove any remaining dust.

3. Smart Primer PLUS: maximum adhesion between the floor and the microcement

  • Apply the primer with a roller.
  • Let it dry for 30 minutes.

4. Smart Base: the transformation becomes visible

  • Apply a thin coat with the Smart Roller and smooth it with the trowel at a 45° angle.
  • Let it dry for 6 hours.
  • Sand gently with 40-grit sandpaper.
  • Apply a second coat in the same way.

5. Smart Medio: texture and character for the floor

  • Apply a thin coat with the Smart Roller and smooth it with the trowel.
  • Let it dry for 6 hours.
  • Sand with 80-grit sandpaper.
  • Repeat the process with the second and final coat.

6. Varnish + Booster: sealing, protection and extra resistance

  • Mix the two products and shake them well.
  • Apply a total of 3 coats with a roller.
  • Let each coat dry for 4 hours.
  • Sand gently after the first and second coats.

7. Curing: where patience makes an appearance

  • Although it will be dry to the touch after the first 48 to 72 hours, the microcement will reach its maximum resistance after 7 days of curing.
  • Do not drag furniture or walk on it in high heels during those days.

Do it without getting lost with the DIY guide!
